Set up RevVitals
Connect your first vehicle
Add the vehicle's year, make, model, engine and fuel type. The VIN is optional. 2. In Torque, enable web uploads and enter the vehicle's RevVitals ingest code in the User Email Address field. 3. Choose a 10-second upload interval and select the recommended PIDs. 4. Keep the engine running for one minute while RevVitals checks the connection and sample quality. RevVitals provides diagnostic guidance. It does not replace a qualified inspection.
What you need
Use Torque Pro on Android with a compatible ELM327-style Bluetooth OBD adapter. Create the vehicle in RevVitals before configuring Torque.
Map Torque to a vehicle
How mapping works
Each RevVitals vehicle has a unique ingest code beginning with rv_. Paste that code into the User Email Address field of the matching Torque vehicle profile. Selecting that profile in Torque routes its uploaded runs to that RevVitals vehicle.
Keep the code private
Treat an ingest code like a password. If it is exposed, rotate it from the vehicle settings and replace the old value in Torque.
More than one vehicle
Create a separate Torque profile for each vehicle and give each profile the matching ingest code. Check the selected Torque profile before every drive. Do not reuse one ingest code across vehicles.
Use the 10-second cadence
Default upload interval
Set Torque's web upload interval to 10 seconds for everyday driving and most guided checks. This cadence provides useful trends without creating unnecessary duplicate samples.
Faster diagnostic checks
A guided check may ask for a faster temporary interval when a short test needs closer detail. Return to 10 seconds afterwards. One-second logging is not the everyday default.
Missing samples
Phone sleep settings, a lost adapter connection or weak mobile data can interrupt uploads. RevVitals can still index a partial run, but gaps may reduce the confidence of its guidance.
Supported PIDs
Availability varies
A vehicle may not expose every PID. Unsupported or blank signals do not need to be enabled. Start with the standard PIDs your ECU reports consistently.
Diesel vehicles
Diesel analysis uses available airflow, boost, temperature, engine load, RPM and speed signals. Petrol fuel-trim rules do not apply to diesel engines.
Recommended petrol PIDs
Select engine RPM, short-term fuel trim, long-term fuel trim, mass airflow (MAF), manifold pressure (MAP), coolant temperature, intake-air temperature, throttle position, engine load, vehicle speed, timing advance and commanded equivalence ratio. Enable both fuel-trim banks where the vehicle supports them.
Reports and sharing
Save a copy
Use the report's PDF action to print or save a branded copy. A saved PDF is not affected if its original share link later expires or is revoked.
Share a report
Paid reports can create a read-only link for a workshop or tuner. The recipient can view the report without access to your RevVitals account. Choose an expiry when creating the link and revoke it at any time.
What a report contains
A RevVitals report records data quality, key measurements, detected patterns, severity, confidence, likely causes and practical next checks. Reports are diagnostic guidance rather than a guarantee that a named part is faulty.
Privacy and data control
Data sent by Torque
Only enable the PIDs needed for your checks. Keep each vehicle's ingest code private and rotate it if someone else obtains it.
Location data
Location is not required for vehicle diagnostics. RevVitals excludes location fields by default unless you explicitly enable route analysis.
Sharing controls
Vehicles, runs and reports are private by default. A report is available to others only through a share link you create. Share links are read-only and can expire or be revoked.
Troubleshooting
A PID is blank
The ECU may not support that PID. Disable the blank signal and use the standard PIDs that return consistent values. Bank 2 fuel trims are often unavailable on engines with one cylinder bank.
Data has gaps
Disable battery optimisation for Torque, keep Bluetooth connected to the adapter and check mobile data access. Use the 10-second interval after any temporary high-frequency test.
No run appears
Confirm that Torque web uploads are enabled, the correct vehicle profile is selected and its User Email Address field contains the full RevVitals ingest code. Keep the engine running for one minute, then check the connection again.
Run mapped to the wrong vehicle
Stop the upload, select the correct Torque vehicle profile and compare its ingest code with the code shown in RevVitals. Each Torque profile must use only its matching vehicle code.
